In this highly interactive virtual summer camp, your child will explore their imagination and tap into their creativity as they turn classic story tales into immersive theatre experiences!
Camps are 5 days long and every week is a new story, so you can sign up for 1 week or up to 8 weeks to keep your child's imagination active all summer! Students do not need to have any reading skills or own the book being used as inspiration. |
CLASS EXPERIENCE:
Spend the week acting, singing, dancing, drawing, and imagining as we turn storybooks into an immersive theatre experience! Discover the magic and joy of theatre in an unforgettable summer adventure where students will turn the pages of a storybook into an immersive theatre experience jam packed with creativity. In this 5 day camp students will interact with a story book in order to create sets and costumes, explore embodying the character's emotions, act out the story using body language and facial expressions, and use music as a tool to further a story. Learners can expect to be engaged and participating throughout the lessons. Each day of camp will focus on a specific element: Story, art, acting, and music with a cumulative performance on the final day. No previous experience needed, only an open mind and eagerness to join. Don’t miss out on this lively and delightful camp! TAUGHT BY JESS PHILLIPS |

This camp is an introduction of basic rhythmic and melodic elements of music for beginners. In a highly interactive virtual setting, students will learn about rhythm, beat, melody, and more. Learners will practice drawing different notes and understanding their values. Students will even get to see what it is like to write a song, and they'll learn a song off of sheet music at the end. This class is a great opportunity for your young musician to get familiar with all these important music theory ideas at an early age.

CLASS EXPERIENCE:
This class will be introducing basic rhythmic and melodic elements of music to beginners. We will cover subjects such as: Keeping a steady beat, clapping a rhythm, reading quarter notes and eighth notes, silence in music, do re mi fa so la ti do, basic melodic patterns, controlling voice volume, high vs low, and introductory music notation. We will cover one new rhythmic element and one melodic element everyday while trying to incorporate the ones from previous days. By the end of the week we will attempt to write easy songs on a musical staff using correct notation. To keep these subjects interesting and fun, we will be doing activities or games each class for additional practice in using these subjects. All music will be done through singing and I will occasionally use the piano for demonstrating sound. A song list of children's songs we will be using is: Engine Number 9, Johnny Works With One Hammer, Lucy Locket, We Are Dancing in the Forest, Apple Pie, Are You Sleeping, Mrs. White, and Rocky Mountain.
